IL SORRISO
S’ io te veche, cu’ sta’ faccia addulurata
saccie ca tu’ nun si cuntente ma si triste
a capa toia sta’ girata all’atu late
e faie a vede’ ca proprio nun me viste.
Sienteme a me, ca u munne e malamente
e sempe a pensa’ u tuorte po’ fa’ male
se cade malato si more overamente
nun t’applica’ e tutto chistu male
Pienze nu’ jiuorne tutte e belle cose
scordete de guaie e pienze sule o bene
iesce fore a guarda’ na pianta e rosa
e vide stu’ bellu sciore quanta spine tene
Amma piglia’ sta’ vita a comme vene
senza penza’ sti’ guaie e tanta gente
amma penza’ pe’ sempe sule o bene
cu ammore senza penziere e alleramente
Girate a faccia a me’ , guardeme fitto
fame a vede’ chist’uocchie e chistu viso
guardame n’faccia e ricuordete c’aggia ditto
apreme e labbra e damme nu bellu surriso.

THE SMILE
If I see you with a grieving face ,
I know that you are not happy but you are sad
you turn your head the other way,
and make believe like you never saw me
Listen to me the world is so dishonest,
and only thinking of trouble is very bad for you
you can get real sick and you can die from it,
don’t let bad things worry you so much
Just stop one day and think all of the nice stuff
forget your troubles and think of all good things
go outside and look at this rose bush,
and see this pretty flower how many thorns it has
We need to take our lives as it comes
without thinking of everyone else problems
We need to think always only goodness
with love, without worries and happily
turn your head toward me looks me with a stare
let me see your eyes and your face
look straight at me and remember what I’ve just told you
open your lips and give me a beautiful smile.
