A Ischia Ponte vicino e prete a mare

ce’ sta’ na chiesiella piccerella da tant’anne

e accusi’ carella ca’ quase quase nun ce’ pare

e’ a chiesiella dinte e scogliere e Sant’Anna

26 Luglio a Ischia facimme a festa e Sant’Anna

a festa dedicata apposta pe’ piscature

e na festa centenara e tutti st’anne 

cu’ bancarelle, allummata, cuncierte e sunature

Addobbane varche, zattere, o puntile e vuzzarielle

cu’ scenette comiche, castielle e carta, e cu’ lampare

sfilano da vascio o Ponte fino a sotto o Castiello

cu’ nu grande bagliore e luce ammieze o mare

Fanne a gara a chi piglia o primme premio

e tanti miliune mise in palio do’ Comune

peccato ca’ doppo tanta fatica e tantu genio

stu’ primme premio la’ da’ piglia’ solo una 

Ogni anno rinta a sta’ festa e competizione 

hanna gareggiato poeti, scultori e pitture

e nomme loro si vedene scritto cu’ devozione

p’onora’ a Sant’Anna e pe’ fa’ na bella figura

A tarda sera quasi vicina a mezanotte

s’appiccia tutt’o Castiello cu migliaie e biancale

cu’ tanta gente a guarda’, accummenciane e botte

fernesce a festa cu’ na gara e fuochi artificiale.

La Festa a Mare agli Scogli di S. Anna ha un fascino tutto suo. Una manifestazione che non ha eguali in tutto il mondo e si avvale di uno scenario unico.

THE FEAST OF SAINT ANN AT ISCHIA PONTE

At Ischia Ponte near the beach rocks  at sea

there this little church from many years ago

Its so pretty that that you can’t hardly see it

It’s the little church of Saint Ann by the rocks

July 26 in Ischia we celebrate the feast of Saint Ann

the feast dedicated just for the fisherman’s

the centennial feast that has continued for many years

with street vendors, street lights, concerts and musicians

They decorate ships, barges, the bridge, and small boats

with comic scenes, paper Mache Castles and sea lamps

parading  in the ocean from Ponte to the Castello

with a huge light display shining  the sea

They compete for first prize for decoration

to win  Municipal prize money

to bad that after so much work and dedication

the first prize goes to one boat only

Every year in this feast and competition 

have entered to compete, poets, writers and painters

their name appear with devotion

for honoring Saint Ann, and to exhibit their talent

Late in the evening just about midnight

the entire Castello is lighted with thousands of flairs

with many watching on they star the fireworks

and the celebration ends with a fireworks competition
